Look out Twitter. Here comes Google Buzz.
Feb 10, 2010
Avid Google watchers will have been keeping an eye on the latest releases from Google such as Wave, Chrome OS, Android etc and have been watching Google Labs for the rumoured Twitter style application.
Well; nothing appeared in Labs but that’s not to say nothing has been happening.
All of a sudden, Gmail users have found a new tab in their Gmail interface named Buzz. It looks to me at first glance like a cut down version of Google Wave. Similar features to Wave, such as instant notification of replies and lists of users to share info with, but a vastly improved user interface.
Similar to Twitter or Facebook status updates, users can send updates to friends or share with the world. You can include images and even inline video.
Here’s what Google has to say about it.
Oh, and there’s a mobile version too with voice recognition so you don’t have to text!
Don’t worry if you don’t have Buzz yet. It will roll out over the next couple of weeks. And, if you don’t use Gmail, you should give it a go. Gmail can handle all of your POP or IMAP mail and integrate it with a Gmail account so you can access it anywhere you have a connection to the internet.
Actually, you can use Gmail offline too, but don’t get em started. That’s a whole other thread.
